ATHENS - KKE parliamentary spokesperson Nikos Karathanassopoulos, in a statement to SKAI radio station on Tuesday, stressed the need to safeguard the health system in order to protect workers.
Karathanassopoulos said that that "individual responsibility must not conceal aspects of state policy on the treatment of coronavirus."
"There are serious deficiencies in Intensive Care Units, while the primary health care system that could decongest the hospitals only exists 'on paper'," he added.
Moreover, he said that "the labour movement must be on the alert so that the coronavirus and the crisis of the capitalist economy is not used to abolish labour rights."
Finally, he pointed out that somebody will have to pay for the support packages to business groups.
