NEW YORK – George Papaeleas AHEPA Chapter 367 of Washington Heights held a monthly meeting on March 28 via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapter is named after its founder who was the first District 6 Governor and a Supreme Governor as well. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary in the St. Spyridon Community.

The chapter has supported AHEPA projects such as the Greek Fire Relief Fund, presented AHEPA Scholastic Medals and monetary awards to graduates of the former St. Spyridon Parochial School and has been a contributor to the St. Spyridon Philoptochos.

Among those in attendance were AHEPA Supreme President George Horiates and AHEPA District 6 Secretary Chris Pappis. The Supreme President discussed the Greek Bicentennial, membership, the Hellenic Caucus, and the Supreme Convention scheduled from July 25-31 in Athens, Greece.

Also present were Chapter President George Chokos, Vice President George J. Patsalos, Alexander Patsalos, and Konstadinos Ioannu. The chapter has had a “resurgence” of membership in the last two years, nearly doubling in size.
