ONTARIO, CANADA – Daughters of Penelope District 23 Governor Dr. Xanthe Vafopoulou and the District Lodge, Canada, present the 2nd Educational Seminar of their series Lessons from Greece on Sunday, January 24 at 1:30 PM EST via Zoom.

Vasilia Mavrou, Director of the Melissa Orphanage in Thessaloniki, Greece, will speak about the challenges Melissa faces to provide exceptional care for its charges during the economic crisis and the pandemic in Greece.

The Lessons from Greece series of webinars were inspired by the progress and rapid development of modern Greece in the last few decades. In the minds of tourists and casual visitors, Greece may have beautiful beaches and great food, but Greece is also a progressive state with sound political philosophy and many accomplishments. These webinars cover a wide spectrum of topics, from the geopolitical dynamics to social concerns to modern city structure and development. With these webinars, we aspire to build a bridge between modern Greece and Απόδημος Ελληνισμός (Greeks living abroad).
