ALBANY, NY – On September 20, following church services at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany the Daughters of Penelope Alope Chapter 158 scholarship committee presented the 2020 award to Sophia Theodorou.

Sophia grew up in Garnerville, NY and she and her family are members of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in West Nyack. Her parents Vasili and Tina and her sister Elaine attended the presentation. Sophia first came to St. Sophia while attending SUNY Albany as an undergraduate and has become a part of the St. Sophia family by joining the choir and becoming a member of Maids of Athena Albany Sophia Chapter 48 and currently holds the office of Corresponding Secretary for the organization.

Sophia graduated this past May from SUNY Albany with a double major in Psychology and Sociology and is now attending Russell Sage College in neighboring Troy, NY in the Occupational Therapy Master’s Program. We wish her the best for the future!
