West Coast Greeks Share Their Insights in ‘Learn from the Greeks’ Series

LOS ANGELES – The Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles (Public Diplomacy Office) along with the Consulate General of Greece in San Francisco (Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs) present the webcast series Learn from the Greeks, an informative and entertaining initiative featuring successful West Coast Greeks from different fields who share their insights and expertise, in 15-30 minute segments.

Learn from the Greeks is a collection of videos aiming to introduce promising and prominent Greeks of the U.S. West Coast and communicate their achievements and tips to a wider audience.

Episode 1 features Dr. Dimitrios Iliopoulos, worldwide renowned expert in the field of biomedical research, drug discovery and development ( Dr. Iliopoulos, author of the best-selling book Biotechnology Valuation & Investing, is a Biotech Executive, Entrepreneur and Inventor with a demonstrated history of working as a faculty in top academic institutes (Harvard Medical School & UCLA School of Medicine) and co-founder of several biotech/pharma companies, including Athos Therapeutics Inc. (, Dyania Health ( and Attica Sciences Ltd.(

During his interview with Learn from the Greeks, Dr. Iliopoulos talks, among other things, about Dyania’s innovative computational platform that can be used for assessing the risks of contracting COVID-19 and the severity of COVID-19 for each person. He also refers to the development of new chemical compounds derived from selected species of olive trees, mastic gum and ancient Greek herbs for the prevention and therapy of human diseases.

Episode 2: George Eleftheriou, Co-Founder and CEO of Sentio Solutions, a San Francisco based startup, developing digital biomarkers and therapeutics to change the way we diagnose, monitor, and care for mental health. Episode 3: Tony Constantacos shares tips and tricks on Professional Gaming and eSports. He came from Greece to Los Angeles with zero connections, to pursue a carrier in eSports and was 30 when he decided to make this leap. Hustling and grit was how Constantacos broke into a very competitive space. Episode 4: Dean Karnazes, an exceptional Greek endurance athlete and bestselling author. Among his many accomplishments, he has run 50 marathons, in all 50 U.S. states, in 50 consecutive days, he’s run 350 continuous miles, foregoing sleep for three nights. He’s run across the Sahara Desert in 120-degree temperatures, and he’s run a marathon to the South Pole in negative 40 degrees. On ten separate occasions, he’s run a 200-mile relay race solo, racing alongside teams of twelve. His long list of competitive achievements include winning the World’s Toughest Footrace, the Badwater Ultramarathon, running 135 miles nonstop across Death Valley during the middle of summer. Episode 5: Yorgos Karamihos, actor, director and acting teacher, born and raised in Greece. He graduated the Philosophy and History Department of Ionian University and The Greek National Theatre Academy. In 2012, he received a Fulbright Scholarship as an exceptional artist to attend the fulltime program at Stella Adler Acting Academy in Los Angeles. As an actor, he played lead roles in more than 40 theatre productions in a wide range repertoire including ancient Greek dramas, Shakespeare, Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, Vendekind, etc. He has also appeared in over 30 feature films and 12 TV series, including The Durrells in Corfu. Since 2008, he has directed 11 theatre plays in several major venues. He was awarded as the best stage actor of Greece in 2008. He has translated from English, French and Spanish into Greek and published several theatre plays. He is also known for supporting charitable institutions such as Therapeutic Riding Association of Greece, The Smile Of The Child, Animal Welfare Organizations etc. He speaks five languages. He has been teaching acting on stage and in front of the camera using his own technique based on animal archetypes in various Acting schools and healing centers in Greece and at The Stella Adler Acting Academy-Los Angeles/US.

Episode 6: Drew Delis and Michael Petychakis of Orfium, a startup company offering copyright management and digital content monetization services to music industry professionals (artists, music publishers, record labels). It helps put independent artists in control of their music, how it is consumed and distributed on online platforms. The company has offices both in Los Angeles and in Athens, Greece. Orfium has been experiencing consistent growth since its founding in 2015.
