LAGFF also released the following statement about the passing of Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis who passed away on May 1, at the age of 89: “It was with great sadness that we received the news that Olympia Dukakis passed away on Saturday morning. A fierce actor, director, producer, activist and Oscar winner, Olympia was one of a kind. LAGFF was privileged to have had her as a member of its advisory board and to have screened OLYMPIA, a documentary by Harry Mavromichalis, in 2018, winning the Orpheus Audience Award. Her inspirational presence and beautiful persona lit up the world Olympia lived in. We will miss her and we will always remember her.”
