NEW YORK – The Hellenic Film Society USA announced on May 21 that five new films have been added to its YouTube channel, including one full length feature, just in time to stream for free this Memorial Day weekend.

Among the films available, the feature film, Family Member, directed by Marinos Kartikkis, follows a struggling middle-class family in Cyprus where Pappou’s pension check helps make ends meet. But when he dies suddenly, his family must take desperate measures to stay financially afloat. This award-winning film is filled with humor and pathos. A story for our time.

Anna, directed by Spiros Charalambous, is a short film in which a Filipina caretaker discovers the disheartening truth about her 86-year-old charge's infatuation with a soap opera character named Anna.

Bread and Olives, directed by Alexander Jaschik and Iordanis Orfanidis, tells the story of two brothers who leave Greece and head to Germany in search of a better life.

Freezer, directed by Dimitris Nakos, follows a middle-aged ad man, out of work for three years, determined to overcome obstacles, and find a job to get out of the “freezer.”

To the Moon and Back, directed by Stelana Kliris, is the story of a young man who must decide how to tell the woman he loves that he has been accepted on a one-way mission to Mars.

The films are in Greek with English subtitles.
