NEW YORK – Archbishop Elpidophoros of America sent a congratulatory message for the 105th anniversary of the National Herald. The Archbishop called TNH “a central pillar of our ecclesiastical, social, political, and sports news, and an immovable bastion of the preservation of the Greek language and our tradition.”
The entire message follows:
“With great joy, I am pleased to welcome the 105th anniversary of the continuous and uninterrupted publication of the newspaper ‘Ethnikos Kyrix’, a media outlet of the Omogenia of the USA, for which we in America can all be proud. The struggle for information and journalistic coverage, not only of the major issues, but also of the daily life of Hellenism, requires sacrifice, much effort, and a lofty mindset about ecclesiastical and Greek national issues.
The National Herald has proven that, throughout its more than a century-old journey, it deserves the praise and trust of all of us, since it performs the task of informing us daily with such efficiency and such quality. We wish them well – to make it to a millennium, so to speak – so that it may continue to be a central pillar of our ecclesiastical, social, political, and sports news, and an immovable bastion of the preservation of the Greek language and our tradition.”
