ASTORIA – The Old Astoria Neighborhood Association (OANA) holds its next meeting on April 14, 6:30 PM EDT via live stream on Facebook and YouTube. Greek-American actor, writer, producer, and voice-over artist Anthoula Katsimatides is among the presenters scheduled for the meeting.
A member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, Katsimatides has been featured in several films and TV shows and has performed her solo show off-Broadway. Currently, she is an executive producer of Olympia, a documentary about Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis. At the OANA meeting, Katsimatides will speak about Acting and the Pandemic.
Also presenting at the meeting is Leon Hovsepian, NYU Wagner on How Finance Affects Housing and Development in New York City. Hovsepian is a graduate-school Adjunct Professor teaching real estate finance at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and Columbia University GSAPP programs. He was formerly the Executive Director of Credit & Special Underwriting at New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), within the Office of Development, and chaired HPD’s Credit Committee for four years. HPD is the nation’s largest municipal housing agency of its kind, and is an innovator in affordable housing finance and policy. His work focused on holistic reviews of affordable housing investments, assessing costs along with public benefits, and informing housing policy through creative financial analysis.
David Burgoa from Neighborhood Housing Service (NHS) of Queens, on behalf of the LaGuardia Career Center, will be presenting Jobs at the New LGA Airport – Personal Finance in Housing, on the local hiring program for Queens Residents, developed in partnership with the Port Authority and the LaGuardia Airport.
Some of the topics of discussion will include: What the partnership is, what they do, and how to apply. Also, to be discussed- NHS of Queens Services and Programs and the following topics: Affordable Housing, Financial Capabilities, First-Time Home-buying, and Homeowner Assistance.
