Anadolu Chief in Greece Furkan Naci Top Dies of Cancer at 33

ATHENS – Furkan Naci Top, Anadolu news agency's chief correspondent in Athens, died of cancer at the young age of 33 years.

Top began working for Turkey's official news agency in 2013 reporting on energy issues, before becoming head of its office in Athens in 2016.

He covered a series of topics about Greece including daily life, politics, economy and sports, and his reports and interviews contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries.

An especially talented journalist, Furkan Naci Top left his mark in Athens as a person with a positive outlook on life and one with a great sense of humor.

In a message of condolences to his family, Syriza party described him as having "served at his critical post with responsibility and professionalism, retaining before every challenge an outstanding attitude of genuine kindness and graciousnes."
