Alexis Tsipras visits Corfu

CORFU, Greece — Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras is visiting the island of Corfu on Thursday. Tsipras arrived on the island at 11:00 accompanied by SYRIZA MP Effie Achtsioglou.

Immediately after his arrival, Tsipras went to the town's commercial centre where he talked with shop owners and with local on their every day life and their problems. At the same time, the tourist guide were holding a protest under the slogan "Tourism is also the tourist guides". The protestors told Tsipras that their income in the last two months is zero and their liabilities pressing.

During his visit to Corfu Tsipras will hold successive meetings with employees associations and representatives of the island's agencies. In the afternoon he will visit the Archaeological Museum and at 19:00 he will meet with the three mayors of the island.
