Al Fursan and Typhoons Arrive in Athens ahead of Athens Flying Week 2023

ATHENS – “Al Fursan,” the United Arab Emirates Air Force’s aerobatic display team, along with two Typhoons, touched down in Athens on Monday in anticipation of the 11th Athens Flying Week 2023, scheduled for September 2-3.

Panagiotis Podimatas, president of the Athens Flying Week 2023 organizing committee, expressed his excitement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA). “Hosting ‘Al Fursan’ is a significant achievement. This elite team seldom performs abroad. Their appearance in Athens marks their second European showcase and their debut in Greece. Their choice to participate in Athens Flying Week 2023 is truly an honor.”

The event is also eagerly awaiting the US F-35 and the French Rafale. Other notable participants include F-16s from Belgium and Denmark, and Greek teams “Dias” and “Daedalos.” Beyond the Saudi and Emirati teams, the roster boasts the Spanish Patrulla Aguila, squads from Switzerland and Belgium, and Kavala’s acrobatic team. A special Italian team, comprised of individuals with disabilities, will also join, showcasing the remarkable feats human determination can achieve. World aerobatic champion Luca Bertossio deserves a special mention. Additionally, the event will feature Greek Sky Diving and Gliding teams, and the inclusion of the Aegean civil aircraft fleet further elevates the event’s significance.
