Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
LOS ANGELES – Aktes Productions announced on December 6 it has begun fundraising for First Private Lesson, a drama based on an original screenplay by award-winning songwriter/composer/music producer Dimitrios Laskaridis.
Dimitrios Laskaridis’ script follows a student who experiences sexual harassment by her professor. She enlists the help of those who love her – will there be justice?
Executive producer Shelly Papadopoulos and writer/director/music composer Dimitrios Laskaridis said, “we’re thrilled to be collaborating on our first project for Aktes Productions. Our combined forces will bring to the screen a story that will stir the audience’s thoughts about one of society’s biggest menaces.”
Dimitrios Laskaridis is a multi-award-winning songwriter/composer and music producer of extraordinary achievement in the motion picture and television industry. He has written and produced many popular songs, and his work has been featured four times in the annual Eurovision song contest. He has written songs that have won in many song competitions, including the prestigious Thessaloniki Historical Song Festival and his songs were used as official anthems by the Greek national soccer team. Laskaridis has produced his own short films, for which he composed music, one an official submission to Festival De Cannes.
Shelly Papadopoulos is an executive producer of two multi-award-winning documentaries produced by the Greek Heritage Society of Southern California: The Promise of Tomorrow 1940-1960 and The New Greek Americans 1960-2018. The documentaries were hosted and narrated by Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis. Papadopoulos was an associate producer on the film, The Dragonphoenix Chronicles: Indomitable.
