Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
EASTON, PA – Peter S. Zavitsanos, the Secretary and Treasurer of AHEPA Chapter #56 which was named in his honor last year, celebrated his 95th birthday on September 30.
A World War II veteran who served in China, Burma and India, Zavitsanos is a life member of AHEPA and has been his Chapter’s Secretary since 1954.
Last year, a dinner was held at the Marblehead restaurant in Easton with Chapter President Joseph Black and AHEPA dignitaries in attendance. The Chairman of the Board of Governors George Zissis was the Master of Ceremonies.
Zavitsanos’ wife, Xanthe, passed away in 2016. He has two daughters, Katherine and Athena.
We wish him the best on his special day and thank him for his service.
In honor of his birthday this year, Zavitsanos received a letter from the White House signed by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

It is an honor to join your loved ones in wishing you a very happy 95th birthday! Congratulations on this wonderful occasion. We hope your heart is filled with joy knowing you have experienced our country’s greatest blessings, including the affection of family and friends over a long, well-lived life.
Our Nation owes you a tremendous debt of gratitude for your dedicated service to our country during World War II. In the face of uncertainty and danger, your sacrifices were critical to the defense of our country and ensured security and prosperity for millions of people.
Your legacy of service is a proud part of our country’s remarkable story. We send our best wishes as you celebrate this tremendous milestone. God bless you, and happy birthday!
