ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – One day after opening its Emergency Relief Fund, AHEPA will release an initial $50,000 by Friday, July 27 for humanitarian assistance for the victims of the deadly wildfires that are devastating Greece’s eastern Attica region, announced Supreme President Carl R. Hollister.
“The images and stories coming from Greece are absolutely heartbreaking and tragic,” Supreme President Hollister said. “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families of the victims and all who have been affected by this tragedy. We are extremely grateful to Greece’s first responders and to all nations that have offered support and assistance, including the full engagement of the United States.”
He added, “This is just AHEPA’s first step toward providing aid to Greece. We will raise more, and we are calling on our chapters to mobilize. We thank everyone who has donated thus far and ask for our appeal to be shared widely. We will stand with Greece as we did in 2007 and during other times of great need.”
In 2007, AHEPA transported 270 care packages totaling $250,000 worth of goods and raised an additional $250,000 in financial assistance for Greece’s wildfires victims.
