AHEPA Gold Coast Chapter 456 Donates $2K to Tom Zangas Memorial Cancer Fund

PORT WASHINGTON, NY – The Annual Tom Zangas Memorial Cancer Fund Walk/Run was held on October 26 at the North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington. Over $60,000 was raised this year.

To date, over $500,000 has been raised for the fight against cancer. AHEPA Gold Coast Chapter 456 presented a check for $2,000 to Leonard Zangas at their meeting on November 6.

The Tom Zangas Memorial Lung Cancer Foundation was started in 2011 by Zangas and his wife Penelope to honor the memory of their son, Tom, who died at the age of 40 after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Since its formation, the Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to support lung cancer research at leading medical research institutions.

Donations have been made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation and The Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Health who extended Tom’s life.
