Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
HARRISBURG, PA – AHEPA Supreme President George Horiates traveled to Harrisburg, PA, the state capital, to visit and participate in the AHEPA Chapter #64 initiation and banquet ceremony on February 24. The visit to the Harrisburg chapter was his first as Supreme President.
Horiates was “excited and proud to visit such a historic and active AHEPA Chapter.” The Supreme President stated his appreciation to District Marshall Dr. Michael Billys who assisted in coordinating the event with many members of his chapter.
Chapter President Christ Megoulas welcomed the Supreme President to the Power District and was very appreciate of all the past District and National brothers who came from near and far to attend the event. District 4 Governor Charles Mackenzie reiterated his appreciation for the visit and noted the Past District Governors in the audience.
Horiates thanked the new initiates and charged them to keep growing and participating at all AHEPA events.
Among those present were Supreme Governor George Papaspyrou, Past Supreme Treasurer Anthony Drakos, Past Supreme Governor John Mesogitis, PSG Cleon Kordistos, Past District Governor Angelo Loulis, AHEPA Executive Director Basil Mossaidis, Dean of Holy Trinity Cathedral Fr. Michael Varvarelis, and Holy Trinity Cathedral Parish Council President Basil Papoutsis.
AHEPA Chapter 64 also shared the announcement concerning the visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. All AHEPA Chapters are asked to send in their monies for the tables they have been asked to purchase in honor of the Patriarch’s banquet on Thursday, May 14, in Washington, DC. Every chapter should purchase a table for the discounted price of $2,000.
Individual tickets will be selling for $350, so we are asking every chapter to secure the $2,000 for a table of ten and sell them to your members. Time and space is running out, we only have 20 tables left! This will be a sold out event!
AHEPA will be hosting their annual Capitol Hill day earlier in the day, starting at 8 AM in the Halls of Congress. AHEPA is also hosting a grand luncheon in honor of U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt at 12:30 PM and will be holding their Biennial Banquet at 7 PM.
