AGAPW Presents Online Lecture Series Jan. 31-May 23

NEW YORK – The Association of Greek American Professional Women (AGAPW) in collaboration with ALLILONnet announced their online Spring 2022 Conversation with Women Leaders Lecture Series, featuring fireside chat presentations on contemporary topics. The series runs on Mondays from January 31-May 23.

With these discussions, we are seeking to broaden our appreciation and understanding of contemporary topics in science, arts and the humanities, while building a community of leaders supporting each other in our endeavors.

The series is curated and hosted by Anastasia Romanou, PhD, and Olga Alexakos, PhD. The lecture schedule follows:

Monday, Jan. 31, 7-8 PM – Anastasia Romanou, PhD: “Female Entrepreneurship in the Age of Climate Crisis.”

Monday, Feb. 14, 6:30-7:30 PM – Olga Cosmidou, Hon. PhD: “Multilingualism in the Heart of Democracy. The EU Example: Languages as a Bridge between People and Nations.”

Monday, Feb. 28, 7-8 PM – Dimitra Tsachrelia, MS AAD, and Eirini Tsachrelia, MS AAD: “Architecture Academia and Practice at the Intersection of Art and Ecology.”

Monday, Mar. 14, 7-8 PM – Olga Kazianis, M.S.Ed, MIA: “Language and Literacy in Childhood Education: Challenges and Opportunities in Our Times”

Monday, Mar. 28, 7-8 PM – Katherine Schwab, PhD: “The Parthenon Metopes: New Ways of Seeing the Sculpture,” introduced by Nicoletta Richardson, BA.

Monday, Apr. 11, 7-8 PM – Sonia Liza Kenterman, MA: “On Making Her Acclaimed Feature Film Ράπτης (Tailor), and Working as a Female Film Director in Greece” Introduced by Madeleine Ball, BA.

AGAPW is now accepting applications for their Excellence Tuition Scholarships:

The Katerina Navab Excellence Tuition Scholarship in Humanities

The Amalia Colombos Excellence Tuition Scholarship in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

The scholarships offer $1,500 each annually and are awarded to female students of Greek descent, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and are enrolled in a four year accredited Bachelor’s program in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Selection criteria are based on academic excellence, community contribution, and financial need. The applicant must submit a personal statement, a financial statement, and university documents indicating status of enrollment and grades.

Applications are accepted between December 1st and March 15th.

The scholarships will be awarded in March.
