A New Way to Watch the Sopranos… of the Greek National Opera

ATHENS — The world-class opera, ballet, and musical theater performances of the Greek National Opera (GNO) are coming soon to a laptop or tablet near you.

The first production to air on the new GNO TV service will be Madama Butterfly, which will be broadcast online on November 25, 2020. Get your ticket and log on at nationalopera.gr/GNOTV to enjoy a one-of-a-kind performance by internationally acclaimed soprano Ermonela Jaho, under the musical direction of Lukas Karytinos. Performances of the ballet Don Quixote and the opera Don Giovanni will follow in December.

GNO TV, which will be fully operational by early January, is not only a response to the pandemic, but also part of the GNO’s longer-term digital transition to anticipate evolving needs and reach an international audience.

GNO TV is implemented through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) that supports the GNO’s artistic outreach.
