A Greek Flag Rises in Philly

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The City of Brotherly Life was adorned in blue and white on April 15, two days before the Greek Independence Parade takes place, marking the 195th anniversary of the Hellenes liberation from the Ottoman Empire.

Outside City Hall, a flag-raising ceremony was held, and members of the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley welcomed Honorees Nicholas and Athena Karabots, and all joined Mayor Jim Kenney in welcoming back the Evzones to Philadelphia after a 20-year absence.

Stay tuned for more details about parade events throughout the weekend.
