Anarchist Nabbed Fleeing Greece

ATHENS – A self-styled anarchist on parole for his role in the kidnapping of a prominent industrial was caught at Athens International Airport trying to leave the country.

Authorities said that Polykarpos Georgiadis, linked to Greece’s Number 1 fugitive, was arrested while trying to board a flight to Brussels, in violation of his parole.

He was recently released from prison after serving part of a 12-year, 10-month sentence for his role in the 2008 abduction of Giorgos Mylonas.

He had been released from custody on the condition that he would not attempt to leave the country despite a history of terrorists and murders also being let out of prison and fleeing the terms of their release.

Georgiadis has been linked to Vassilis Paleocostas, a prolific high-stakes robber with a colorful background and a fan following who has made two dramatic escapes from the Greek capital’s maximum-security Korydallos Prison, the last by helicopter in 2009.
