ATHENS — Atromitos handed Olympiakos its first defeat in the Greek league and joined the defending champion and PAOK in first place on Sept. 27.
PAOK can take sole possession of the lead when it hosts OFI on Sept. 28.
Also, Asteras won 1-0 at Platanias and Xanthi drew 1-1 at Panionios.
Atromitos’ victory came three days after it hired former Portuguese international Ricardo Sa Pinto as its new coach.
“Coach was wise not to make too many changes, but he rallied us,” said Tassos Karamanos, the goal scorer with a low drive in the 29th minute.
Olympiakos coach Michel said his players lacked passion. Four days before Olympiakos’ Champions League game at Malmo, Michel used the same lineup that beat Atletico Madrid 3-2.
