Gay Attacks Rise in Greece

ATHENS – Greek police said a gay male couple was attacked and beaten by a gang of 10 to 15 men in an assault that left one victim with a broken ankle.

The Efimerida ton Syntakton newspaper said incident happened in the neighborhood of Pangrati and was reportedly at least the fifth on gays this summer in the capital.

The men said the attackers had shaved heads and were wearing black T-Shirts, uniforms of skin heads and the extremist Golden Dawn party although no one has has been identified.

The victim with the broken ankle had to undergo surgery. The incident is being investigated by the Pangrati police precinct.
