Biden Mildly Optimistic about Solution

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Vice President Joe Biden said he is “mildly optimistic” about a bizonal bicommunal federal solution to the Cyprus problem.

Speaking to 1500 Greek-Americans in Philadelphia at the 42nd annual Clergy Laity conference, Biden expressed disappointment that during his long career in politics, this 40 year-old problem has yet to be resolved.

But he was hopeful about a solution on the horizon because of the willingness of both Cyprus and Turkey to achieve one, and also because of Cyprus’ key discovery of hydrocarbons.
