Italian Ambassador Cerboni: EU Must be More Involved in Cyprus Process

The EU should get more involved in the process of the negotiations for a Cyprus settlement since it is in its interest to have a functional Cypriot federal state in its ranks, that will be able to take decisions and not block the Union, Ambassador of Italy to Cyprus Guido Cerboni has told the Cyprus News Agency.

In an interview, with CNA on the occasion of the assumption of the rotating EU Presidency from Italy, Cerboni said that the solution of the Cyprus problem should abide by the acquis communautaire, adding that “the EU is not `a la carte` so that you can just pick up what you like.”
