5.4 Richter Earthquake Jolts Pylos in Peloponnese

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale shook Pylos, in the Peloponnese, on Monday, according to the Institute of Geodynamics at the National Observatory of Athens.

The announcement said the tremor struck in the sea region with 10 klm depth, 28 km south-west of Methoni.

Later the director of the institute noted that the earthquake did not engender concern and was normal for the area, which is very earthquake-prone.
