Milbrandt Vineyards Riesling, 2012
Riesling has become a very popular varietal in the Pacific Northwest, and vineyards in Washington are maturing and improving their methods for its production, resulting in some really stellar examples.
Milbrandt Vineyards from Washington state’s Columbia Valley produced a delightful 2012 middle of the road Riesling that is a perfect off-dry option for a cocktail wine, or as a companion to light appetizers or spicy dishes.
There is a definite presence of residual sugar, but this bottling is not a candy-sweet Riesling. Refreshing, with peach, green apple, lemon, and lime flavors and aromas. Crisp minerality and a fruit driven palate round out a pleasant body that is almost effervescent, and finishes with a focused, stony mouth feel.
