was born in Piraeus, Greece on August 29, 1931.

He finished Panteion School of Law and then left Greece to pursue a career in the Merchant Marine.  Alkiviades became a Captain at the early age of 30.  He later held various executive positions at several shipping companies and ultimately was one of the founders of TBS Shipping Services International, which became listed on NASDAQ.  He retired in 2006. Captain Meimaris, was respected and adored by all and entranced his friends, family and acquaintences with stories of the sea and the world. His brilliance, quick wit, humor and knowledge of world history, politics and languages (he spoke 5) overwhelmingly enthralled his audience. Captain Meimaris always showed a genuine interest in whomever he spoke with and gave words of encouragement to all. Despite his achievements, he always remained humble and kind. His greatest love was his wife Eleni, and then his children and grandchildren. Some of his last words to Eleni was that he would live with her 1000 years if he could. He will never ever be forgotten and his life lives on in his wife, his children Demetri, Maria, Angeliki, & Alkistis, his grandchildren Maria, Alkiviades, Efklithes & Eleni, his son-in-law Vassilios, his brother John Meimaris, all of his nieces and nephews and especially his dearest friends Antonis Neratzoulis and Jaime Leroux. Funeral Thursday, December 19, 10AM from the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee, NJ.
