ATHENS – Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias underlined the significance of a Europe-wide exchange of information on coronavirus measures at a political level besides a scientific one, after attending a special Friday meeting of EU health ministers in Brussels on how best to ensure a coordinated response to the current COVID-19 outbreak in the EU.

Kikilias suggested enriching the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control’s (ECDC) digital platform with the political measures that each country is taking and updating this on a daily basis, to ensure real-time information on actions taken at European level to address the coronavirus.

He also emphasized the importance of joint tenders for the supply of medical equipment, such as masks and disinfectants.

The minister emphasized that “the top priority for Greece and the ministry of health is to help vulnerable groups and the elderly, who may face the most problems of this public health crisis.”
