ATHENS – There is a government plan for any possible scenario concerning the coronavirus, Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos said in an interview with OPEN on Wednesday, noting that the state mechanism is ready to deal with any situation.

Regarding the provision that allows refugees to apply for citizenship in seven years – and not three years – Theodorikakos said: “We are doing something that is self-evident and reasonable. It is not right for someone who enters the country illegally and acquires refugee status to get Greek citizenship in three years while a foreigner who has entered the country legally should acquire the right to ask for Greek citizenship in seven years.”

Referring to the interior ministry bill being discussed in parliament, he said that it has been accepted by all mayors and regional governors, as it solves key problems of the local administration affecting all citizens.
