How Musician Douskalis Made Culture Crisis Work

February 22, 2020

Greek-American musician Peter Douskalis doesn’t have to worry about having a culture crisis: that’s the name of his Extended Play recording that he performed at The Bitter End in New York City, an original work of instrumental rock guitar-based music.

He told Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos about his songwriting inspirations and career that’s included being a session player doing studio work for other musicians, a path that has made some of them even as famous as the front men.

“This was a chance for me to play my own original music with some amazing musician friends,” he said, adding that his music and songwriting are both inspired by emotions. “From this last EP, I can say that each song came to me just as I picked up the guitar and struck a chord. The common factor being that my now-wife, Stefanie, was always in the room. I believe she inspired all of those songs and first chords and so the EP is dedicated to her,” he said.
He noted just what it means to work in a digital age: “I struggle to maneuver it and find where I fit.”
