Greece’s Culture Minister Receives Egypt’s Minister of Antiquities

ATHENS – Culture Minister Lina Mendoni on Thursday received Egypt’s Minister of Antiquities and Tourism, Dr Khaled Ahmed El-Enany, who is on a three-day official visit to Greece.

According to a ministry statement Mendoni noted “the long-standing, substantial relations and good cooperation between the two countries at the level of bilateral relations and international organizations,” while El-Enani expressed his pleasure at being in Greece and said the visit “would further deepen these relations.”

The two ministers are scheduled to meet again on Friday to discuss the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.

The Egyptian minister will visit Athens’ largest museums and be shown around by their directors before he departs on Saturday – the Acropolis Museum (Dimitrios Pantermalis), at the Museum of Cycladic Art (Nicholas Stambolidis) and the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art (Giorgos Maginis) on Friday and the National Archaeological Museum (Maria Lagogianni) on Saturday.
