AMSTERDAM – Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis will pay a visit to the Netherlands on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss electricity-powered vehicles with officials the country, a pioneer in the sector.

The Netherlands has 46,000 recharging stations, a number expected to double over the next years, while the City of Amsterdam has recently announced it will gradually phase out the circulation of all petrol- and diesel-based vehicles in the city by 2030.

In Amsterdam, Hatzidakis is scheduled to will meet with Dutch Ministers of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy Eric Wiebes and of Environment and Housing Stientje van Veldhoven. He will also visit the offices of Elaad NL, an innovation center for smart recharging infrastructure and their management by the power network, and the companies Allego and Alfen, leaders in recharging solutions for electric vehicles.

In addition, the minister will meet with Leaseplan managers and local agencies that promote electric vehicles, including officials at the City of Amsterdam.

The Greek minister is also expected to visit a city taxi point, where taxis – now all running on electricity – get recharged.
