Anna Chaziroglou Impresses at National Ballet Competition in Delaware

February 9, 2020

WILMINGTON, DE – Anna Chaziroglou, a seventh-grade student at St. Demetrios High School in Astoria, just made a huge first step at the National Ballet Competition in Delaware. Although she participated in such a competition for the first time, she received three scholarships from the judges and made a great impression on the audience.

Anna’s father, Evan Chaziroglou, said, “As Greeks, we are very proud of her, not only for her outstanding ballet work, but also for her hard work in every field. Her schoolwork is always her top priority and her grades prove it.”

Anna is trained in the Vaganova method by the renowned Olga and Vitaly Verterich, teachers in Manhattan, and the distinguished teacher Nonna Joeva in Athens in the summer. She also takes contemporary dance lessons with the well-known teacher from the Principality of Monaco, Mireille Nina Buisson.

Chaziroglou has also participated in the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive Program in New York and has received a scholarship to the Kirov Ballet Academy in Washington, DC.

Her plans for this summer are to attend the American Intensive Ballet Summer Program in New York and then train at the Nonna Joeva Ballet Summer in Athens.

Ballet requires a great deal of dedication, discipline, and hard work, but Anna puts her whole soul into it and practices year-round, seven days a week, with only a ten-day break.

Her personal motto is: “Never give up. The road to the top is called hard work.”
