Delphi #25, AHEPA Chapter Lifts Hellenism

January 28, 2020
James B. Zafiros

NEW YORK – AHEPA is the largest Hellenic and most prestigious fraternal organization in the world. AHEPA just announced that Delphi Chapter # 25 earned the distinction of capturing the number one membership ranking among the more than 450 worldwide chapters, restoring its name, long associated with prestige and accomplishment.  Delphi’s history goes back to 1923. They are following in the footsteps of some great Ahepans, who were members of Delphi, including President Franklyn Delano Roosevelt and two of the most distinguished Greek Americans of all time, Past Supreme Presidents Dean Alfange and Dr. Kimon Doukas. They are joined by other distinguished members; Federal Judge Nicholas Tsoukalas and prominent entrepreneur and Past Supreme Secretary, Jim Poll. No other AHEPA Chapter can claim such a distinguished, highly visible Alumni roster. Today, the chapter’s roster includes more than 300 members from a wide range of professional and local business back grounds.

It is a rare moment when a member of another chapter rises to congratulate another chapter for excellence. This is one of those moments. I have been a long time member of the James Plevritis – Joseph C. Keane lodge, a large chapter in its own right commanding more than 180 members, the sixth largest in AHEPA. I was VP of membership for many years and know something of about developing AHEPA membership. Delphi’s journey is without peer, their accomplishments, not only in membership, are complemented with an exciting and engaging, year-round program of community events that celebrate Hellenism.

Their journey is beyond impressive and should be recognized in the highest levels of Hellenic Culture and Organizations as an outstanding symbol of unprecedented accomplishments.
