Pavlopoulos, who earlier was pronounced honorary citizen of Didymoteicho, said during his speech “I would like from here, the Greek Thrace, and from this place of creation and unity and peaceful co-existence of Greek Christians and Greek Muslims under conditions of total equality, to underline that in order for, we Greeks, to continue a tradition of achievements, better or equal to those of our ancestors, we must address with determination the challenges and the dangers and particularly to defend our national issues and rights with intact unity, particularly those that refer to our relations with Turkey” Pavlopoulos underlined.

The Greek President also referred to the ‘so called’ as he characterised it, “Memorandum of Understanding” between Turkey and Libya, noting that it is “a characteristic example of Turkey’s arbitrariness and which, as internationally admitted, is institutionally non-existent.
