I could hardly bear to watch the six Democratic candidates for the presidency at the debate just held in Des Moines, Iowa, the state where the first primary – caucuses, not an election – will take place in less than three weeks.

And I watched it with difficulty because no candidate inspired me; Joe Biden did not say much – and most of the time it seemed like the rest of the candidates had forgotten who their real opponent is: Donald Trump.

One of the key matters that came up during the debate was whether Senator Bernie Sanders told (during a private conversation) Senator Elizabeth Warren that a woman cannot be elected president of the United States.
Sanders denied saying such a thing.

So, it becomes a question of who we should believe – Warren, probably.

However, it has already been proven – as if it were necessary – that a woman could actually be elected. Hillary Clinton received nearly three (3) million more votes than Trump, losing the presidency only because of the quirks of the Electoral College – that outdated voting system.

There has also been a lot of talk about a critical global issue, which Trump doubts: global warming.
I am not denying that these are serious issues.

But who is the candidate most likely to beat Trump?

That is the ultimate question.

I don’t think it is Sanders. Warren is more likely to win.

But an even stronger combination would be a Biden-Warren ticket.

Biden, after all, is Trump’s greatest fear. He must know something to be so afraid of him.

Because of his anxiety about Biden, Trump took actions that got him impeached – only the third president in U.S. history to suffer that humiliation – in the House of Representatives. And now he is going to trial in the U.S. Senate.

It is the fear of Biden’s candidacy – which he seems to think is a given – that made him push so hard, through the actions of Rudy Giuliani and others, to get the new Ukrainian President to look for evidence against Biden’s son who was – it was a mistake for him to accept the appointment – a member of the Board of Directors of Ukraine’s national oil company.

The hope, then, is that Biden will soon become the clear front runner among the Democrats.

Otherwise, only the former mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, will be a serious alternative.

The combination of his accomplishments in New York and the limitless amount of money he has – he is willing to spend a billion on his campaign – make him an increasingly likely opponent of Trump in the November election.
