Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ASTORIA – The Pancyprian Choir of NY held its annual cutting of the vasilopita at Dionysos Restaurant in Astoria on January 13. The festive party included dinner, live music and dancing.
Pancyprian Cultural Division President Ismini Michaels gave the welcoming remarks, wishing all those present a Happy New Year. She then introduced Pancyprian Association President Philip Christopher who thanked Mrs. Michaels and all the members of Choir for their efforts throughout the year, aligned with the Pancyprian Association’s efforts to promote Hellenism and justice for Cyprus.
Among those present, Pancyprian Choir Artistic and Musical Director Phyto Stratis wished everyone all the best for the New Year and helped Michaels with the cutting of the vasilopita.
Stratis told The National Herald that the Choir has some new upcoming performances and collaborations this year to look forward to and will keep us posted.
The lucky coin was found by Choir member Eleni Tsangaris.
