ATHENSM – ain opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday tabled a question in parliament for Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis entitled: “Labour Rights: A return to the ‘normality’ of the memoranda.”

Tsipras accused the government that in the last six months it has passed a series of measures that roll back labour rights, abolish measures for the protection of workers and lead to salary cuts.

The SYRIZA leader asked the prime minister how he intends to address the “increasing employer arbitrariness that has led to a negative record in layoffs in the last months.” He also asked whether Mitsotakis is going to proceed with “even the inadequate increase of the minimum wage, as he had pledged in his election campaign”.

Moreover, he asked prime minister if he intends to extend a programme to combat brain drain, in order for the 5,500 young scientists to continue to offer their services to the Greek state or whether he will “drive thousands of them to emigrate”.
