  1. Anaxios!

    Because:

He, along with the EP, joined schismatics in the Ukraine in order to attempt to create a new church body (OCU) in the canonical territory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a move that has emboldened the enemies of the Orthodox Church worldwide. Recognizing the danger NOT ONE of the other Local Orthodox Churches (Autocephalous) have recognized this “OCU.”

Elpidophoros has openly stated that the EP (whose throne he covets) has the “sole power” to rehabilitate schismatics and uniates (“Greek-Catholics”) and even to grant them autocephaly and like Ukraine, every nation should have its own national church.

YET, Orthodox Christians in the United States are NOT WORTHY of their own autocephalous Church and should be dependent on the Patriarch of Constantinople?! Hypocrite.

By his uncanonical actions, Elpidophoros threatens the Orthodox Church with a new Great Schism.

Because: Elpidophoros does not know or understand Americans and is only trying to set up a Greek Orthodox satellite in this country that will be a steady support for him monetarily and politically when he ascends to the “Ecumenical” throne.

    1. Anaxios.

His own words about his vision for the United States betrays his own ambition, ignorance, and ungodly presumption:

“With regards to the United States, the submission to the First Throne of the Church, that is, to the Ecumenical Patriarchate is not only fitting with the American society and mentality but also it opens up the horizons of possibilities for this much-promising region, which is capable of becoming an example of Pan-Orthodox unity and witness.”

    2. He was perhaps thinking of the Rum under the Ottoman Turks since he and the EP are Turkish citizens when he talked of the “mentality” for submission to a throne.

He should have read up on the birth of the American Nation and the Revolutionary War that Americans fought to free themselves from submission to a crown.

Turkish subjects may have such a “mentality” but we Americans do not.

    3. That was a really nasty shemozzle re Ukraine… and getting worse … talking about corruption… the fish starts to ‘go off’ from the head…

  2. Since Elpi inherits an archdiocese with less than 250,000 adherents in 500 so-called “parishes” and which has a statistical presence of less than one-tenth of one percent in the United States, he doesn’t need too many more Greek flags and trips to Turkey to drive off the rest of us. Welcome to the sinking ship of your boss’s complete creation.

  3. Only time will tell for sure. For the benefit of the Greek Orthodox Christian faithful that are left here in the US. Time has come to breakaway from this “old world” mentality of being a public relations arm of either the Greek or Turkish governments.

In all due fairness, these two goverments have absolutely “nothing” to offer us here in the US.

The Church and its faithul here are “no” longer a “diaspora” and should “not” be treated as such. Nor, are the Church and its faithful here “not mature” enough to stand on their very own. And there is absolutely “no” reason on this God given earth why the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America should be sending on an annual basis, “one million” dollars to Istanbul. They basically have very few faithful, and nor do they seem to do any type of outreach. This money could be put to much better use here helping the many here whom are truly in need of assistance.

This includes children and adults. As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ preached. To help build hospitals, senior assisted living centers, help clothe the poor, feed the hungry and be an outreach to and for those truly in need. Charity begins at home! Time has come to finally and once and for all, wake up!

Lord help us and have mercy on us all!

  4. I did tune in for a few minutes to see that everything being said is in Greek of course. Even though ironically this man is supposed to be “The Archbishop of America”. When Elpi did finally get around to speaking some words in English of course he was slobbering all over Bartholomew and our need to be submissive to the Ecumenical Throne, their obsession with the now closed Halki School of Theology and the politics of the Church. The Panagia was briefly mentioned (Yay!) I’m sure she appreciated that, and as the camera panned the laity and clergy in attendance, I have never seen a group of people look so bored and ready to get out of there. Of course the very long speech in Greek by Bart’s Emissary locked out all of the other invited guests who are Americans who speak English here in America. This will be the final nail in the coffin of the GOA! Panada Anaxios!!!!!

  5. Over the top in “Royal” tone, embarrassing at times, Alex running back and forth to create the video image that he was in charge, as was his son at JFK, a block long Red Carpet. Didn’t know if was Jesus’s vicar or Beyoncé and JZ. Smacked only of being the Church of Manhattan. Standing ovation for Demetrios was also embarrassing. He never answered for this mess for one minute. No mention of America, little or no English. Purposeful rhetoric and images that we are GREEK. No American Flag. No thanks to America. Archbishop of GreeCypTurko only.

Biggest take away: they live and want to live in an all Greek world and they don’t want to assimilate, especially with non Greeks, whether or not the non Greeks are Greek Orthodox.

A bad day in the Big Apple.

Now they have to work on getting him a work visa because he’s not a US citizen. But he is in a sanctuary city.

Uggghhh to all of this, awful.

  6. When will it finally dawn on the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that it is in fact in the United States of America and not in Greece.

With all the non Greek speaking people at today’s events. As well as with the many third, fourth, and fifth generations. It would have been best if there was much less Greek used, so others could have also understood more. The language of this great country of ours is English! Is the Archdiocese so small minded not to comprehend this? Unfortunately, I guess so and how sad!

  7. Personally, I preferred and was wowed by Elizabeth Taylor’s grand entrance into Rome as, “Cleopatra” than I was with Elpidophoros’ poorly staged ( by Karloutsos the Klown) entry into Gotham’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral. At least have him ride atop the back of an Ass!

A red carpet a la Hollywood Oscars, and skimpy clad young girls in white ( I guess denoting that they’re virgins) strewing rose petals in his path was obscenely ridiculous!

    The Greek Evzones too !?
I guess the Praetorium Guard were on vacation on Fire Island! LMAO Big Time!!

What any of this pseudo pomp nonsense has to do with Orthodoxy is way beyond me; none of this has anything to do with any religious ceremonial protocol – not one iota!
However, an expense the GOA can afford – Hmmmm!

As a Greek Orthodox Christian I am appalled, offended, and embarrassed by this “cheap” display.
I am certain that others in the Greek Orthodox community feel similarly.
Shame on the GOA: shame on the new archbishop for condoning and going along with all this – HE of all people should know better!

He has made an international laughing stock of himself!
    ANAXIOS! ~ ptou!

Once and for all – time to live in the real world of the 21st Century!?

    1. Kanenas – oh but it’s You who’s the Klown!

Personally, I am wowed by red carpet hospitality [+ strewn rose petals] deserving of our new Archbishop. Fr. Alex did a commanding, creative, superlative job + I applaud him.

As a Greek Orthodox Christian, I’m appalled + offended by you + your ilk’s endless jabs at Fr. Alex Karloutsos, with your unsubstantiated accusations + falsehoods. Envious much?
He’s so beloved, last year Fr. Alex was honored by hundreds with Athenagoras award — + his angelic wife Xanthi too. They’ve done more for this wretched world than y’all’s could dream!

Ask yourself: will you ever be honored at all?
      ANAXIOS ~ to you pal!

Shame on Y’all’s – diminishing our Mother church + Patriarchate …
Shame on Yall’s sneering like hyenas at a Lion … + Fr. Alex IS the Lion of American Orthodox world.

Do us a favor pal ~
take a long boat to Shambala ~ & take Nick
      Stamatakis too!

    2. The hierarchy has failed us, in fact, they have betrayed us, and sinned in ways that condemns their leadership of the Church and the sacredness in which they have cloaked themselves.

Their leadership in the last 3 decades has been exposed as devoid of the Holy Spirit, of the shepherd’s love and courage, and even of just plain decency.

They have shamelessly plundered and scandalized the church and the system that supports them needs to be dismantled

  8. I did not view the video nor do I care to do so at all.
I did see the posted photos with this article inescapable), however ALL of the captions are one and the same and do not describe, explain, inform.
Likewise for all of your other photos in other articles.

Time for the Publisher/ Editor, Columnists, et al of the TNH to go back to Journalism 101.
If too busy covering everything Elpidophoros will be doing going forward, quickly take the time out to look up the word, “caption” in your Funk & Wagnall’s!
That should suffice without having to go back to school.

  9. Seraphim ~
” I have never seen a group of people look so bored and ready to get out of there.”

Let’s be thankful that Rev. Evagoras Constantinides (Dean, St.Constantine & Helen Cathedral, Brooklyn, NY) didn’t throw any fire-crackers to wake everyone up, esp. the Roman Catholic Cardinal nodding off!

However, I don’t know why the GOA didn’t have him perform his zembekiko dance on the floor in his rassa for entertainment at the Terrace on the Park Dinner hosted by the Clergy!

  10. Dear Sage Girl ~

Hmm… I must have hit a raw nerve!
Next time, I’ll be more gentler and use novocaine (maybe).
    Feel better.

  11. HaHaha ?Kanenas –
Who’s got the last laugh now?

Pal, looks it’s gotten on Your nerve!

    Repeat after me… VIVA!
    VIVA!?VICAR GENERAL KARLOUTSOS! ?

  12. Sage Girl~
Obviously you misread my comment addressed to your attention.
I was succinct enough without having to go into a lengthy and boring dissertation.
You are of one particular mindset, while many others are of a different one.
    Have a good summer.
Finito la musica, finito la festa!
