Our Community and Our New Archbishop Elpidophoros

May 21, 2019

In recent days we have received numerous questions from our readers across America about Archbishop Elpidophoros.

Surely our people want reassurance that our new Archbishop is different, that we are really entering a productive era in the history of our Community.

Our answer is that – based on the information we have at our disposal – we believe that he really is a different kind of hierarch, a leader who has the personal and spiritual qualifications to make history.

What is the data so far?

First, he was undoubtedly the candidate with the best qualifications.

Second, he took care to get to know our community going back a number of years.

He is quite prepared.

Thirdly, his actions since the day of his election are impressive.

For example, he communicated in person with our clergy.

In his first message to the community, he begins as follows: “For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit.” (1 Corinthians 5: 3).

He is indeed with us. And he is already at work on his new responsibilities – and he will continue to work tirelessly.

“A good day is seen from the morning,” as we Greeks say.

Archbishop Ellpidophoros is already demonstrating that he is our hope for the future.

And we are also confident that our Community will open its arms and provide all its support and cooperation.

The rebuilding has begun.
