Names of Successors that Are an Insult to the Greek-American Community

The question of who will succeed Archbishop Demetrios now that he has resigned has attracted, as is logical, interest in Athens.
And it is also logical that several names are being circulated by friends and supporters of those who consider themselves worthy of being a possible successor to Demetrios – they are being promoted in the various Greek newspapers, obviously to remind the Ecumenical Patriarch of their existence.

  1. Surely there is more to this story that TNH could publish. Why the suspense? Of course, the only thing harder than naming those not qualified is naming those who are both worthy and capable.

  2. The time has come for an American born archbishop who focuses on building parishes and developing the youth rather than sucking out the finances for idiotic symbols. If they are that worried about the money, build the communities and the archdiocese will prosper.

    when he visits us this summer.
    Shut down and tear down all the churches.

    1. Better yet, just don’t show up, don’t call, write, or give a dime to the parish, metropolis, archdiocese, or any subsidiary institution. Turn your back on the whole deal. Cancel your Orthodox Observer toilet liner. Return to sender.

    2. Fr. Alex will make sure he goes to the most prosperous communities where a false narrative can be spun. Will he visit St. Nicholas and see the awful situation there? Or how about Holy trinity in Chicago, which is n the auction block due to mismanagement of funds or HCHC which almost had to close and underfunded? The itinerary will miss all these spots, I am sure.
