Blackout on Crete Due to Explosion at PPC Power Plant

The greater part of the island of Crete was left without power on Friday due to a blackout caused by an explosion in a power transformer at the Public Power Corporation (PPC) Linoperamata sub-station in Heraklion at about noon.

Fire brigade forces have been sent to the area.
