Former Co-Owner of Panathinaikos BC Thanassis Giannakopoulos Dies at 88

ATHENS – Thanassis Giannakopoulos, former president of Panathinaikos basketball and volleyball team, died on Tuesday at the age of 88.

Thanassis Giannakopoulos and his brother Pavlos were co-owners of the Panathinaikos basketball club from 1992 to 2012.
After the death of his brother Pavlos he became president of the pharmaceutical company VIANEX.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said that Thanassis Giannakopoulos’ loss leaves a huge gap in the field of sports and entrepreneurship.
