ATHENS – A number of killings and deaths and reports that anarchists inside are still directing attacks outside has led to plans for a Magistrate to investigate a criminal racket operating inside the Greek capital’s alleged high-security Korydallos Prison.

Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou is expected to appoint the investigator who will be a terrorism expert and look into what’s called the “Korydallos Mafia,” said Kathimerini, with fears violent activity in Athens is being coordinated by elements inside the prison.

The probe will also focus on the murder of lawyer Michalis Zafeiropoulos in October 2017, the attempted murder of another lawyer, Giorgos Antonopoulos, in 2014, the murder in Korydallos last month of an Albanian convict implicated in the murder of Zafeiropoulos, and the suspicious death of another Albanian inmate.

Alleged attempts to blackmail lawyer Dimitris Tsovolas and other legal professionals are also to come under scrutiny, the paper also said.
