With the United States mum so far, Turkey has ripped the coming furlough from prison – the sixth – for a terrorist assassin behind the murders of 23 people, including Turkish, American and British diplomats.

Dimitris Koufodinas, a darling of the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA who critics say is paving the way for his ultimate release, is set  to walk out of a low-security farm where he was transferred from a high-security prison for another vacation from jail, from four to six days, the details unreported.

The Turkish Embassy in Athens said the furlough for the former ringleader of the disbanded November 17 terror group was wrong.

“It is totally unacceptable that Koufodinas, a terrorist who shows no repentance for his despicable crimes, is allowed to take frequent vacations from prison and freely roam around his surviving victims and the families of the deceased,” the embassy said on its official Twitter account.

On his last furlough at Christmas, he was seen walking around Athens looking at the sites where he killed people, accompanied by a leader of  the notorious anarchist group Rouvikonas,  pointing out the murder spots on a tour. His next vacation is due Feb. 28 although he is serving 11 life sentences for murder.

In the wake of a recent US-Greece Strategic Dialogue, and wanting to build a greater military presence in Greece, the US State Department and US Embassy have backed off criticism of the Leftist government with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, once anti-American, now embracing closer relations with Washington.
