Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
WASHINGTON, DC – The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) announced on January 22, that the 44th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner will be held on March 9 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC. Tickets are available online.
The event is the organization’s most important of the year and honors distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to the Greek-American community or the community at large.
The 2019 honorees are Ambassador Patrick Theros, former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, Gulf International Forum Strategic Advisor, and National Herald contributor; philanthropist Eleni Bousis; Dr. Spiro Spireas, Chairman and CEO of Sigmapharm Laboratories; and Nicholas E. Chimicles, Founder and Chairman of Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP.
The black tie event begins with a silent auction and reception at 6 PM, followed by dinner at 7 PM. Music is by Apollonia.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday, March 8, AHI holds its Greek Night of dinner and dancing at Kellari Restaurant, 1700 K St NW, Washington, DC. Dinner begins at 7 PM, dancing begins at 8 PM. More information is available by phone: 202-785-8430.
On Saturday, March 9, 9:30–11 AM, a Breakfast & Briefing will be held at the Capital Hilton with speakers Amb. Haris Lalacos, Ambassador of Greece to the U.S. and Amb. Marios Lyssiotis, Ambassador of Cyprus to the U.S.
