KAVALA, Greece – “The Trump government, Minister Perry and the US Department of Energy support even stronger ties in energy, economy and security with Greece, Southeastern Europe and the European continent as a whole, as a strong and active translatlantic relationship is of vital importance to our nations,” said US Under Secretary of Energy Mark Menezes, who visited the Energean oil and gas plant in Prinos, Kavala on Sunday at the head of a US delegation.
He also said: “Achieving energy security for every country is feasible if we do our best to ensure diversification of energy sources.”
Dimitris Gontikas, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Energean in Greece, said: “It was a great honour for Energean to host Secretary Menezes at the unique installations that produce hydrocarbons in Greece, which are owned and operated by Energean and where we maintain a perfect safety record for workers and the environment. We are proud that Energean, through its investments in the revival of Prinos, paved the way for a new era in the history of our country’s hydrocarbon industry and supported the Greek State in its decision to extend this activity to new areas in western Greece, the Ionian Sea and marine regions of Crete.”
During the visit, the US delegation traveled to the Prinos offshore drilling platforms, as well as Energean’s own drilling rig ‘Energean Force’ that is currently drilling a horizontal well in the Epsilon reservoir and the GSP Jupiter drilling rig, which is drilling the first of three planned vertical wells into the same deposit.
