Another Jailed Nov. 17 Terrorist Killer Goes on Hunger Strike

June 24, 2018

ATHENS – After a mastermind of the now-defunct November 17 terror group won another vacation from jail following a hunger strike, another former hitman of the assassins has stopped eating in a bid to win better conditions while in solitary confinement at the high-security Kordyallos Prison.

Christodoulos Xiros, who walked away from a Christmas holiday he was given in 2014 was recaptured in the tourist area of Monastiraki in 2015 after a furious gun battle with police and his failure to come back from a furlough set off debate on whether the time-outs from jail should be allowed.

The ruling Radical Left SYRIZA of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, a party riddled with terrorist and anarchist sympathizers, however backs furloughs even for violent criminals and killers and allowed former November 17 mastermind Dimitris Koufodinas to have a third 48-hour vacation this month despite protests from the US Embassy, which noted his group killed five Americans.

Xiros said he went on a hunger strike to protest what he called his “undignified” isolation for 23 hours a day at the prison’s hospital wing even though he’s not ill.

He is serving multiple life sentences and is not allowed contact with any other inmates. Anarchists and terrorists in the prison were said to be operating as a kind of continued cell to direct operations outside but he’s been cut off from them.
