ATHENS – Greek anti-terrorism police said they apprehended and arrested a former Golden Dawn lawmaker hiding in a friend’s house after he’d fled a Parliament debate where he was kicked out for calling on the military to arrest the country’s leaders for making a deal to give away the name of the Greek province Macedonia to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) – to be called North Macedonia.

Constantinos Barbouroussis had evaded arrest by speeding past a number of police highway checkpoints and blockades in western Greece only to show up in the affluent northern Athens neighborhood of Penteli.

His call for the arrest of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Defense Minister Panos Kammenos and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos to “prevent this treason” led to his ouster from the Parliament and then even from Golden Dawn, all of whose lawmakers and dozens of members are on trial on charges of running a criminal gang.

The rant led Speaker Nikos Voutsis to ban the party from taking part in the debate on a no-confidence measure against the Radical Left SYRIZA leader Tsipras brought by his major opposition New Democracy Conservatives.

Golden Dawn’s leadership kicked him out of the party for straying from the neo-Nazi party’s line, said Kathimerini.
